Our Story

Welcome to Lonely Pines Farm!

Here we’re all about eating good food – fresh ingredients, straight from the source, prepared with love.

Sounds a little bit like a food blog – but there’s so much more…

We believe you should get out there and taste every aspect of life!

I mean, you can’t really argue with the taste of a juicy, ripe tomato straight off the vine in the heat of summer – the incomparable quality of wild game – or the earthy taste of found mushrooms.

See nobody ever tells you this, but – you know the food you’ve been eating your whole life? the stuff you buy at the grocery store? – it really sucks…

There’s no flavor, no nutritional value, and absolutely nothing to get excited about! It’s so hard to make amazing food when you’re starting with such bland ingredients.

That’s why we’re here to tell you – Food Can Taste So Much Better!

And this is not coming from the perspective of pretentious foodies or following a fad diet or treating our bodies like a temple…

We just like to eat good food – and that’s so much easier to do when your ingredients are real, flavorful, and straight from the source.

So, in hopes of helping everyone on their journey – tasting life & experiencing good food – here you’ll find information on how to:

– Grow, Raise, Forage, and Hunt Real Food –

– Preserve Your Harvests –

– Cook Simple & Delicious Dishes –

– Bake Breads: From a Beginners Perspective –

Hopefully, this will be just the push you need to go seek out real food locally.

Start your own garden & enjoy the unparalleled taste of a homegrown harvest – go to the farmers market or contact a local farmer for authentic produce & meats – or venture into the woods & go forage for what mother nature has to offer!

Start experiencing the taste of real, authentic food – we promise you won’t be disappointed!

Our Backstory

In 2019, we moved to the country to grow more food, hunt more often, learn how to forage, & raise some farm animals. Basically, we wanted better access to real food. Unexpectedly, we found our dream homestead out on the Olympic Peninsula.

Since then, we’ve been building a farm from the ground up!

Jerry’s got the green thumb – he’s always grown us an amazing abundance of fresh food. Now, with almost two acres of open space to work with, he’s a very happy plant papa! Needless to say, we’re replacing as much grass as possible with useful garden plots.

It’s been quite the learning experience to figure out just how much we can eat and persevere in a given year.

I’m the resident kitchen witch, lover of baked goods, preserver of harvests.

But seriously, the deal is – he grows it, I preserve it! That’s canning, dehydrating, pickling, fermenting – the whole nine…

I basically love spending time in the kitchen.

So here we are, starting with virtually nothing, trying to live our best life – growing food, raising farm animals, and taking advantage of nature’s bounty in the PNW. Elbow grease is the name of the game, but the rewards will be delicious!

We hope you’ll come along on our journey. Take a chance, grow some things, cook some things, and start tasting life!!
